Liver health (Cirrhosis) and Fucoidan

October 23, 2019

In this blog, I will discuss liver health (cirrhosis) and the Fucoidan effect. First of all, I will let you know what liver fucntion is. There are three function liver has; 1) sugar, protein, and fat have taken from food are stored in the liver and supply energy when needed. 2) decomposes harmful substances such as alcohol, medication and waste products, and detoxifies them not affect the body. 3) It produces and secretes bile that removes waste products made in the liver. Bile is also a digestive fluid that helps digest and absorb fat.

So next, I will talk about liver cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is a result of the progression of chronic liver injury. Chronic inflammation occurs in the liver, and when hepatocyte destruction and regeneration repeated and then slowly occur fibrosis. And at last, the original cell structure of the liver will destroy. When the liver with high regenerative ability is damaged, it means that the internal environment is unbearable for other organs. And cirrhosis survival rate of 70% is reported both at two years and ten years.

Also, fatty liver may cause cirrhosis. So people have to change their lifestyle like not to drink too much alcohol and not to take sugar too much, which leads to the fatty liver because they have a fatty liver, it may cause hyperlipidemia, hypertension, atherosclerosis, and diabetes.

Once you have cirrhosis, how you can treat with natural remedy. Fucoidan would help improve liver fibrosis by inhibiting the expression of TGF-β1(promote fibrosis) and down-regulate chemokine ligand 12 expression (promote hepatic fibrosis) by Kyoumi Nakazato et al.

Based on the above fucoidan research, fucoidan may delay getting worse of liver cirrhosis, and the survival rate could increase.
